The joy of blacksmithing is the variety of items that can be made out of steel. from a simple keyring to a pattern-welded (damascus) knife.

Everything you make in the smithy is yours to take home with you, and as is the nature of hand forged items, they will stay with you for a lifetime.

Introduction to Blacksmithing Full day


10:00-4:30

The introduction to blacksmithing course assumes no prior knowledge of blacksmithing. over the course of the day we’ll focus on creating a couple items with the goal of incorporating as many of the 7 Blacksmithing techniques as possible whilst having a fun and enjoyable day.

Half day Blacksmithing taster session


10:00-1:00

This Half day course focuses on giving you a rounded taste of Blacksmithing. In this morning course we’ll spend our time making a ‘blacksmiths leaf’. This allows us to explore using different parts of the anvil, with the goal of creating a decorative keyring.

‘Blacksmith’s knife’ 1 day course


10:00-4:30

A ‘Blacksmiths Knife’ is a one piece carbon steel knife. Rather than a wooden handle the steel is drawn down and looped back on itself before nestling in against the heel of the blade, making a comfortable guard.

Who can come?

Unfortunately due to the nature of the day, we can only accept people over the age of 14 and anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult

What do you need to bring?

Clothing, Non flammable and durable, best is a pair of denim jeans and a cotton T-shirt,
Footwear, Sturdy and fully covering the feet, Walking boots or steel toe caps are preferred.

Hobbyist club

Practice your skills in fully kitted out professional smithy.

The hobbyist club, is an evening event held weekly on a Wednesday evenings between 6:00 and 9:00.

These evening events give you the opportunity to use Trevella Farm Forge’s equipment to practice your Blacksmithing, come up with new creative ideas and meet other people interested in the craft all of whom are doing the exact same thing. All this with oversight from Nico our resident Blacksmith.

Please note that this is only available to people with prior experience in Blacksmithing.
